When it comes to self-defence, it is better to have the power and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Violence does not randomly occur. It is a chain reaction of smaller activities which later explode into a disaster. As responsible citizens, we must realize that instances of harassment can flare into other bigger heinous crimes against women. These not only leave fatal physical scars but heart-breaking emotional ones as well. With the rise of #itstime and #metoo movement, it just goes to show how appalling and frequent harassment can be. Hence, this is when the importance of learning self-defence techniques for women is felt.
Safety is in our hands. And for Innerve'19, it was time for action. We organised a social campaign, "SheShakti", where a series of self-defence workshops were held for school girls. This empowered girls to fight for themselves. It made them not only physically strong but mentally prepared as well. We've impacted numerous schools and hoped to spread our message wide extensively.
At Innerve, we firmly believe in "Empower the Women, Develop the Nation." Henceforth, in our fifth edition, we aspired to empower women via self-defence.
